Frequently asked questions

Genuine, not staged. We take you to living villages – Langde Miao, Matang Gejia, and Zhaoxing Dong. The “block-the-way” ceremony, tie-dyeing, papermaking, and batik are daily traditions, not performances. You’ll see locals practicing crafts passed down for generations.

Great question. Unlike Lijiang or Dali Old Towns (which are ethnic minority towns), Tianlong Tunbao is a Han Chinese military fortress built in the Ming Dynasty 600 years ago. The residents still wear traditional Ming-era clothing and speak an archaic dialect. It’s a unique piece of living Chinese history you won’t find elsewhere on this route.
