We’ve just returned from a full 12-day trip through western Yunnan. We started in the far south, near the Laos border, and gradually made our way north along the regions bordering Myanmar, all the way up to the edge of Tibet.

The goal was to explore some of the more remote areas of China—rich with ethnic minorities and dramatic landscapes. I believe this kind of trip is ideal for travelers who have already visited China and are looking to go deeper and experience something different.

The journey focused on a relatively small region (by Chinese standards), but one that is incredibly diverse in both people and scenery. In my opinion, Yunnan is one of the most beautiful provinces in this vast and fascinating country.

This time, we organized the trip through Wonders of Yunnan, with Katherine, who was absolutely wonderful and supported us throughout the process. Why did we choose this agency? They had great reviews, responded quickly, and communicated clearly from the start.

In the end, we had two different teams of guides—something arranged by the agency. As far as I’m concerned, they were fully responsible for the overall organization. Since everything went smoothly and there were no issues along the way, I can’t really comment on their handling of real-time problems—which might actually speak to the quality of their planning.

All in all, it turned out to be a truly special and memorable trip.

Big thanks again to Katherine!
