This year the 21st edition of the CITM 2019 was held in Kunming at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Centre (昆明滇池国际会展中心) in Guandu district next to Dianchi Lake from Friday, November 15 until Sunday, November 17. The CITM – China International Travel Market – is one of Asia’s leading tourism fairs and is held alternately in Kunming and Shanghai. The fair focuses on new trends and developments in the tourism industry and during the fair, more than 30 professional promotion conferences and performances were held. Professionals from all over the world will attend and our team joined again as in past years. International countries, all Chinese provinces and Yunnan prefectures were represented with their own colourful stands, as well as hotels, airlines, NGO’s, media, local businesses related to travel etc. In total there were over 4.000 exhibitors and 75 countries that participated in an area of 90.000 square meters with over 80.000 visitors in three days.

Our foreign team that represented Wonders of Yunnan at the CITM in 2019

This year, we shared a humble booth with our mother company Kunming Scenery-Custom International Travel (昆明风情国际旅行), so we had great opportunity to explore the fair and meet the international tour operators, exhibitors and partners. We didn’t only represent Yunnan, but also Guizhou province, at the beautiful Guizhou government exhibition stand that attracted a lot of interest of the visitors.

Wonders of Yunnan was well represented at the Kunming Stand in Hall 9 a.k.a. the Yunnan hall

Tourism fairs like this are a great way to connect with international tour operators that are interested in exploring new areas to offer in their tours for their customers. We did not only meet new business partners but also had the possibility to discover new local products and attractions that we can offer to our own guests. The Yunnan hall was colourful as always with constant minority dance, singing and instrumental performances. But also the stands in the China and International hall had many great cultural shows and dances that were an enjoyable break from the business talks.
