Good news! After three years pandemic, China has been fully reopening the border to foreign visitors, including tourists.
According to the statement posted on this Monday, the Chinese government has decided to make the following adjustments on the visa and entry policies for foreigners to China as of 0:00 Beijing time on March 15, 2023.
- Visas issued before March 28, 2020, and still within their validity period will once again be accepted for entry into China.
- Chinese embassies and consulates abroad have resumed processing and issuing all types of visas for foreigners traveling to China.
- Port visa authorities have resumed processing and issuing all categories of port visas for eligible applicants with legitimate reasons for travel.
- Several visa-free entry policies have been reinstated, including visa-free entry for visitors to Hainan, visa-free entry for cruise ship passengers in Shanghai, visa-free entry for foreign tour group from Hong Kong and Macau visiting Guangdong, and visa-free entry for ASEAN tourist groups visiting Guilin, Guangxi.
But please note that travelers to China still need to take a Covid test within 48 hours before departure and fill in the results in their customs health declaration forms.
