Thousand Turtle Mountain
Thousand Turtle Mountain is located in Liming Township, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City. It is the largest and highest magical Danxia landform area in China so far. A large exposed and weathered mountain rock is like a giant tortoise crawling. Hundreds of giant scale rocks on the tortoise are like small tortoises. The direction of the big tortoise and the little tortoise crawling is the east of the rising sun. Therefore, Thousand Turtle Mountain is named.
Cultural Geography
From Kenjaro, return to Dawn Street, go up the western slope of Dawn Middle School, follow a curvy mountain road through the Danxia rock formations, and after about an hour, you’ll be climbing to a large expanse of exposed and weathered mountain rock, which is called Thousand Turtle Mountain. Its huge, scaly weathered rock formations create a unique landscape. The first thing you see is “Buddha Peak”, a huge upright mountain, the top “weathered scales” spiral down in a circle, the bottom half of which is red and bare, standing on the opposite side, it looks like the Buddha’s huge head, and like a lingzhi leaning on the cliff, so it is also called “lingzhi peak”. You can easily reach the summit by climbing the “giant scales”, and the photos taken by your friends across the way are spectacular. “On the east side of Buddha’s Peak, the second view you see is the “Thousand Tortoises Race”. This is a large slope of neatly arranged “giant scales”, each of which resembles a crawling turtle, and if you look closely, you will see that the slope is made up of hundreds of stone turtles, which resemble an even larger turtle crawling. This is the reason why it is called “Senkame Mountain” because of the beauty of this scenery. In winter, you can see the snow-capped peak of Mount Laojun’s main peak, Jinsheba, from as far away as you can see from the south of Thousand Kame Mountain. There are also wonderful scenery such as cliffs, isolated peaks, and flowers growing from the cliffs, which are worth exploring.

The weathered mountain rocks are red and rounded with small pouches that resemble the back of a turtle, and are so dense that they are called “Thousand Turtle Mountain”.

Ganoderma Peak
Looking at it from the opposite side, it looks like the huge head of the Buddha, the Buddha of Tathagata, and it is also like the Ganoderma lucidum leaning on the cliff. It grows naturally and is very magical.
Lover’s Pillar
Thirty meters high in the two tightly embraced stone pillars, red stone pillars in the sunset light is exceptionally enchanting. This land is so rich in beauty, and has made countless heroes bow in homage.
Danxia
Danxia, in short, is a red stone. It’s a geological wonder formed in nature without vegetation attached to the rock. It’s a peculiar landscape.
