Langbapu Earth Forest
Langbapu Earth Forest (Xin Hua earth Forest), located 33 kilometers west of Yuanmou County in Xin Hua Township, is a unique geological formation. Situated at an elevation of 1560-1640 meters, it covers an area of 1.4 square kilometers. The area is shaped by a unique combination of rock types and geological processes, with its features resulting from frequent tectonic movements, rapid crustal uplift, and strong river erosion. These processes occurred in layers of fine sand, clay, and small gravel, deposited in a lacustrine environment.

The soil pillars in Langbapu Earth Forest are large, dense, and varied, with conical columns being particularly well-developed. These columns generally reach heights of 8–25 meters, with some reaching a remarkable 42.8 meters, making it the tallest individual column in the Yuanmou Tulin area. The formations take various shapes, including conical, peak-clustered, snow-peak, and city-wall like structures.
The snow-peak formations are especially grand, rising up to 40 meters. In terms of color, the tops are dominated by purplish-red hues, the upper parts are gray, and the middle and lower sections are primarily yellow, with varying shades of brown, gray, and red throughout. From a distance, the formations resemble a magnificent palace, and standing among them, visitors can feel as though they are immersed in a surreal, ancient dream, evoking a sense of awe and reflection.

On closer inspection, some pillars resemble imposing warriors standing ready for battle, while others take the form of sharp cones or swords pointing toward the sky. Some look like graceful maidens gazing into the distance, while others resemble figures, animals, or birds in flight. The formations also evoke the imagery of the Great Wall, with tall pillars standing like sentinels, or giant bamboo shoots reaching skyward. Some pillars are crowned with wild grass or flowers, adding to the natural beauty of this mesmerizing landscape.
Langbapu Earth Forest is located near the junction of Yuanmou, Dayao, and Mouding counties, and is about 15 kilometers away from Banguo earth forest, another famous site in the region.
