Sichuan

If we weren't already based in Kunming, our company would probably be called Wonders Of Sichuan. As diverse as Yunnan, Sichuan is a very special Chinese province, mostly known for its bamboo eating Giant Panda Bears, high mountains and spicy food. Located in the upper reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River in the southwest part of China, Sichuan borders Yunnan to the north. It has long been known as the Land Of Plenty or Heaven on Earth for its abundance and variety of products.

The western part of Sichuan belongs to the Qinghai-Tibet-Plateau with its highest mountains (up to over 7500m) and Tibetan culture. Chengdu, the capital, is the economical, political and cultural hub and is situated centrally in the province. As many provinces in China, also Sichuan has its superlative: Lechan Giant Buddha statue, the tallest Buddha worldwide. It is said to have been built for calming the turbulent waters that plagued the passing boats. Begun in the year 713 in the Tang Dynasty, and finished in the year 803, the statue took artists 90 years to carve.

Jiuzhaigou, the Land of Fairy Tales, is the most popular travel destination in Sichuan. It was declared as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, attracting millions of travelers to visit every year. There are 3 valleys, about 108 lakes, 3 waterfall groups as well as a number of endangered plant and animal species.

Combining Yunnan and Sichuan in one tour gets more and more popular among our guests.
